It was another day to forget for the Shaymen as FC Halifax Town were defeated 4-0 at home to Woking which sees them go bottom of the Vanarama National League table.

The visitors started brightly and should have been ahead on 6 minutes, but Reece Grego-Cox was only able to fire over from inside the six-yard box after connecting with a right wing cross.

However, they went ahead just three minutes later with a quick freekick into Padraig Amond who was unmarked in the box, his cross from the by-line was flicked on by Reece Grego-Cox into the path of top goalscorer James Daly who had the simple task of heading into an empty net for his 5th goal of the season.

Sam Minihan had an effort from outside the box, but the ball was deflected as he shot but was easy for Craig Ross.

The Cardinals doubled their lead on 17 minutes, a quick throw in from James Casey on the left-hand side found James Daly in space as he got himself into the box, Festus Arthur came in for the challenge, but Johnson was able to save the shot, but the ball came back off midfielder Kian Spence into the empty net.

Town looked for a way back into the game, Mani Dieseruvwe looked to get onto a Kian Spence cross, but Woking were able to clear and then just before the break, Harvey Gilmour’s cross was met perfectly by the head of Jamie Cooke, but his header skimmed off the bar for a goal kick.

A Jamie Cooke corner in the second half was met by Arthur but his header was cleared off the line

Luke Wilkinson’s freekick was headed by Daly past a static Johnson but hit the post and Town were able to clear

Reece Grego-Cox tapped home after a good move down the left-hand side to make it 3-0 with just over 15 minutes to go for his third goal of the season.

He doubled his tally for the afternoon for the 4th Woking goal afternoon, a shot came in which was saved by Sam Johnson, but Grego-Cox was able to tap home into an empty net to complete the rout.

There was still time for substitute Luke Summerfield strike from the edge of the box to cannon off the post, but Woking were able to keep their 5th clean sheet of the season.
