Halifax Town Supporters Club has been in existence for many, many years and it’s prime role is in the title. We are a Club that is there to ‘support’ our Football Club in whatever way we can.
A frequent observation is our name – why are we called Halifax Town Supporters Club and not FC Halifax Town Supporters Club? It’s simple really – we wanted to retain a link to the old Club whilst embracing everything the new Club has to offer,
The following mission statement sets out what the Supporters Club wishes to achieve
Our objective is to be the best Non League Supporters Club in terms of percentage of members to the fan base, funds generation, administrative standards, public relations, cost controls and effectiveness.
Grand plans? They certainly are! However, we do feel they are achievable although, to reach our goal, we have to rely not just on the support of our members but also a strong, focussed Committee and an excellent working relationship with the Football Club.
Over the years, the Supporters Club has been there to provide the Football Club’s Chairman and Board of Directors with support, mainly financial. In the 1980’s, under the Supporters Club Chairmanship of Derek Newiss, a social emphasis was introduced with regular ‘Open to Question’ meetings at which guests from either the Football Club itself or the football world in general answered questions from the floor providing an insight into the Club and the game we love.
This format continued during Robert Battye’s year as Chairman before Kit Walton took over. The concept remains the same with a number of evenings each season where fans can hear the views of the Football Club’s Board of Directors, Manager and members of the first team squad.
The fund raising activities have continued over the years with the original Halifax Town AFC constantly requiring our financial input. Each season we set ourselves a target and initiatives have included Raffles, Race Nights, Car Washes, Open Days, Sponsored Events, Treasure Hunts, Cabaret Nights, Fancy Dress Days to name but a few! The unequivocal success of FC Halifax Town’s commercial activities, including the ‘branding’ of all FC Halifax Town merchandise has, in recent years, understandably and rightly resulted in a reduction of certain income streams previously available to the Supporters Club. Creative thinking is now unquestionably needed to replace the ‘lost’ revenues, one such example of which is the attractive ‘Goal O Meter’ scheme (held in conjunction with ‘Shaymen Down South’) which is starting to realise its potential. The Committee has also worked hard to successfully establish a ‘Memorabilia Stall’ situated within FC Halifax Town’s ‘pop-up’ shop. A facility is also available via the Supporters Club for any fan/organisation to get their name in the match day programme by donating to FC Halifax Town’s popular ‘Play The Squares’ initiative. The Supporters Club are also very pleased to act as a fan’s/organisation’s link on any issue to the Commercial Manager, Community Group and/or FC Halifax Town itself.
Moving forward, to achieve any form of continuing success, we remain primarily reliant on our members – it follows that the Committee are constantly striving to increase the numbers currently held. Membership is an inexpensive way of showing your support and the appropriate application form can be downloaded from the website. Please join us – there’s no excuse not to!!

It is important to mention that all monies raised by the Supporters Club are passed in their entirety to FC Halifax Town. Historically, this has generally been done at the end of each season although certain sponsorships (e.g. Player Sponsorships/Play The Squares) are now passed over to FC Halifax Town during the relevant season itself. In accordance with our constitution, all financial transactions/Accounts are provided for members approval at the annual AGM, alongside the Secretarial and Chairman’s Reports.
