FC Halifax Town were unable to see out the game in a professional manner according to the captain Matty Brown who spoke to ShaymenTV after the 1-1 draw with Torquay.

“Im frustrated to be honest, the game was scrappy anyway. But taking the lead the way we did, we have to see it out much better and be more professional and ruthless.” He said.

George Waring with the opening goal against the league’s bottom side took it well but as a team Brown believes that they have got to be much better than what they were.

“George took his goal well, but it just wasn’t to be today. We huffed and puffed but I don’t think we played that well today and we have to be much better.” Brown said.

Town continue their run of five games without a victory in all competitions but Brown took the positives out of that.

“We are going through a little bit of a difficult spell at the minute but the most important thing is that we are not losing games, and these points will be important come the end of the season.”

The weather at the Shay was horrendous conditions to play in, Brown told ShaymenTV that it is hard to play in but also believed it was no excuse.

“It is hard to play in but when you want to pass the ball it helps because you can zip it about a bit butt I don’t think we have done that well today. We have been sloppy in possession and given the ball away.” The skipper said.

“I will be completely honest, the draw was a fair result, we did not do enough to win the game but we have that game on Tuesday to bounce back.” He added.

Torquay United came to the Shay hoping to get off the bottom of the table as they come into the game with a similar run of results as Town. Matty Brown said that they knew that the opposition came to frustrate them.

“They are in a similar position as us last time when we got relegated, we were a good side even though we were bottom but we knew that they would frustrate us but we didn’t put them under enough pressure in the right areas.”

In the closing stages of the match, the captain had the chance to win it for the Shaymen but jus could not guide his header goal bound, which has been the case recently for the centre half.

“It was close but, the way it is at the minute, I have had a few headers, there was one at Boreham Wood. Hopefully they start going the other side of the post.”

FC Halifax Town now have another home game on Tuesday night and Brown believes that they will put it right as they play Maidstone at home to try and push on.

“Tuesday night is down to us to put it right again, another game that we will be looking to win. We will come here again with positive attitude and hopefully it is enough to get the three points.”
