FC Halifax Town face a huge test of their play-off resilience on Tuesday 15th of April, as they face Grimsby Town at Blundell Park in a 7:45pm kick-off.
A win for the Shaymen could send them third, and crucially, one step closer to the play-off dream.
Team News
Neil Aspin is spoilt for choice at the moment, as he has everyone but Ryan Toulson at his disposal. Simon Ainge is available again after his two match ban, and may well displace Chris Smith or Danny Lowe at the back. Scott Spencer should retain his place after a full debut to remember at Barnet on Saturday, while Lee Gregory will be looking to start on his next century of Town goals, after notching number 100 at the Hive.
Current Form
Saturday’s 2-1 win against Chester capped off a gruelling seven days for the Mariners, as they picked up seven points in four games. The Mariners remain one of the favourites to grab a play-off spot, and sit in third place in the Skrill Conference Premier; five points clear of Braintree in sixth place. The Blundell Park outfit know their destiny is in their own hands now, and a win over the Shaymen would propel them ever so closer to a top five finish.
Key Man
Former Town man Ross Hannah remains a big part of this successful Grimsby side, and he’ll be looking to get one over on his old employers come Tuesday night. The former Bradford City man has ten league goals this campaign, and will be a threat to the Town back line whether he starts, or appears off the bench.
Last Meeting
The previous meeting between these two represented one of Town’s finest performances of the campaign, as they battered the Mariners 4-0 at the Shay in September. On-Loan Striker Marcus Carver opened the scoring early for the Shaymen, and then a brace from Dan Gardner and one from Adam Smith maintained Neil Aspin’s side’s 100% home record to start the season.
