FC Halifax Town fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat against League One side Fleetwood Town.

Town struck first thanks to Mani Dieseruvwe’s first goal in a Town shirt. However goals either side of half time ensured the hosts took the victory.

Despite pressure from Fleetwood it was Town who thought they had struck first as Milli Alli found the back of the net after a good run, but the offside flag denied him.

On the 20th minute, the Shaymen did take the lead. Harvey Gilmour swung a free kick in from the right hand side and Dieseruvwe got a slight touch to divert it past the keeper to make it 1-0.

With just two minutes left until the break, Fleetwood got the equaliser. The ball was whipped in towards the back post and J Garner rose highest to nod it home.

Just seven minutes into the second half and the hosts took the lead. A cross from the right-hand side landed in the box and despite multiple blocks, was tapped in by Omochere.

As Town looked for an equaliser the ball fell to Gilmour on the edge of the box but his low shot deflected onto the base of the post as the hosts held onto the lead.

The Shaymen travel to Curzon Ashton and Colne on Saturday for the final day of preseason games.
