FC Halifax Town defender Matty Pearson has been selected for the England C squad to face Jordan on Tuesday 4 March. It is the third time that the 20 year-old has been selected by the England C set up to represent his country.

Matty said: “It’s a great feeling as always to be picked to represent my country, this is my third time going now so I’m just buzzing to be back and get involved.

“I don’t really play any differently whether I am playing for Halifax or for England, I always go out and give it my all and try 100% to help the team win.  Obviously I take the experiences I get from playing for England C and try and take what I have learnt back to Halifax and try make myself a better player but it works the other way as well; I am learning all the time at Halifax so I am going to take those experiences with me into this match too and hopefully I can do well.”

The England C team is made up of the best non-league players from around the country and the defender admits he takes great confidence from being selected.

He said: “It is a massive confidence boost to be recognised by the England C set up again. When they are picking sort of the top players from this league and your included you have to take confidence from it but obviously I’m suspended at the minute so I’ve just got to train hard and concentrate on getting back in the team for now.
