FC Halifax Town travel to Chester on Thursday looking for their second away league win of the season in front of the BT Sport cameras.
Town go into the game off the back of a 5-1 thumping of Salisbury at The Shay some 9 days ago. Lee Gregory got a hat-trick that day and he goes into the match at the Exacta Stadium as the Skrill Premier top goal-scorer.
Team news
Danny Lowe could come back from their injuries while Ryan Toulson is still out. Reece Gray has gone back to Rochdale after a loan spell while Kevin Holsgrove has joined Guiseley on loan until the end of the season. Town have also secured the loan signing of Leeds United teenager Simon Lenighan who is available for Thursday night’s match. Matt Pearson will miss the game through suspension.
Current form
FC Halifax Town are in good form after a solid 5-1 victory last time out at The Shay against Salisbury City. Lee Gregory is in superb goal getting form; Crowther has come in and made a pacey impact to the team. Matt Glennon has been in fine form as of late pulling off some magnificent stops to name just a few.
Key man
Gareth Seddon bagged 13 goals for The Shaymen last season and scored at The Shay for Chester last September. Seddon has only managed to bag himself five goals this term but after scoring in the reverse fixture and having got himself on the score sheet in Chester’s last match against Macclesfield Seddon may have the motivation to haunt his old club once more in front of the BT Sport cameras.
Past resultsThere have been 74 meetings between the two clubs – both as Halifax Town/FCHT and Chester City/Chester FC. Both Chester and Town have won 37 matches proving this fixture a hard one to call. The two sides faced off four times last season: Chester won at the Deva in the league, and left the Shay with a point in April. They faced twice in the FA Cup qualifying rounds, as Town came out victorious 3-1 in a replay after a 1-1 draw at the Deva. But most recently Gregory cancelled out a Seddon goal before Marc Roberts won it for The Shaymen back in September.
