After FC Halifax Town’s 5-2 win over Barnet, Jake Hyde spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game, getting his first goal, conceding late on, and looking ahead to Weymouth.

“Very happy to get the three points,” Hyde said. “I thought that the first 60 minutes was the best we have played all season. It just looked like we could score every chance. It is really positive. The only downer, being a perfectionist, was letting two goals in at the end. I felt like we could turn the screw a little bit more. Great result though and five good goals. I think this has been coming.”

Hyde got his first goal of the season after slotting past Scott Loach just before half time. The striker was delighted to finally get off the mark and feels confident he will get a few more.

“I’ve been waiting for that,” Hyde told Shaymen TV. “I felt I could have had a couple more if we had just kept driving. When you get five, as a centre forward you want two or three yourself. One of the lads said my other was not offside so I will have to watch that back. I was happy to get that first one and hopefully it brings more.”

Town were 5-0 up  before Barnet scored in the 58th and 85th minute. This was a little disappointing for Hyde who felt they should have been scoring more themselves.

“Before the game you’d take a 5-2,” Hyde said. “The positive things are how fluent we looked and how good we were going forward. As a centre forward, I felt I could have had more goals tonight, but as a team we were working so much for each other. It was a brilliant result. It does happen though, when you go five up, you tend to go into cruise control. You saw that a bit tonight. We have got to keep driving each other forward to cut that out. It is frustrating, the boys at the back pride themselves on clean sheets. There will still be a bit of disappointed amongst Sam and the other defenders tonight.

The Shaymen travel to Weymouth this Saturday in front of the BT Sport cameras. Hyde is feeling confident going into it and says it will be good to be in front of some fans again.

“It’s a great opportunity,” Hyde told Shaymen TV. “December is always hectic so I always feel that if you do have a good Christmas, you can turn yourselves around. We always take one game at a time, so recovery for Saturday starts now. Fingers crossed we can put on a similar performance on Saturday.”
