FC Halifax Town recorded a 3-0 away win at Curzon Ashton in the first of two pre-season games this afternoon.

Town boss Chris Millington split his squad into two starting elevens with three U19s on the bench for both games at Curzon Ashton and Colne.

Millington was able to give minutes to new signing Tom Clarke, who was signed prior to kick-off from Fleetwood Town, and he came off the bench for Sam Essien on 19 minutes.

Mani Dieseruvwe was fouled in the box on 26 minutes and Matt Warburton’s penalty was dispatched straight down the middle for the first goal.

Tylor Golden went down in the box on 40 minutes but despite his appeals for a second Town penalty, the referee didn’t point to the spot for a second time.

Two second half goals from Dieseruvwe bundling home a cross from Matt Warburton and a second three minutes later following Jack Senior’s flick over the last defender saw the striker fire past former Town goalkeeper Chris Renshaw to make it 3-0.
