FC Halifax Town narrowly lost out to Stockport County in a crunch match in the race for a play-off place; Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV after the final whistle.

The Town Gaffer began by giving his assessment of the game – the Shaymen lost 1-0, however he was upbeat; “I thought we played excellent. We stopped what they are good at, and lived with them in and out of possession. You then had Stockport running the clock down and wasting time in the second half because they were getting beat.

“Overall, I thought we were excellent, and we were beaten by a strike from the most expensive striker in the league. We should be proud of our efforts and if we continue to play like this then we will be fine – but overall we should be happy.”

Wild then gave a further detailed assessment of the second half specifically; “I thought we were camped in their half, but we just couldn’t get that last touch or shot to get a goal. Stockport spent the whole of the second half defending their own box and they got away with one.”

The Gaffer moved his attention onto the next game which is away to Yeovil on Monday afternoon “If we can replicate a similar performance as of today then we will do well again. It’s important we rest up because we travel down tomorrow and we are looking forward to it.”

Lastly, the game against Stockport and Mondays with Yeovil will be in between the social media blackout – a combat against online abuse. Wild gave his thoughts on it.

“I am really pleased, because social media is a ground for people who can say whatever they want without retribution. I came off social media last year because of the disgraceful comments aimed at me – my wife did the same as she was reading disgraceful comments about me as well. Nothing good comes of social media – I’m glad we have taken a step with the blackout.”
