The Shaymen lost 2-1 to Bromley yesterday afternoon in a big match at the top end of the Vanarama National League. The Gaffer spoke to Shaymen TV after the match. Β

Pete Wild began by giving his thoughts on the game, saying; β€œApart from the result, we dominated the possession and I think they came here and did exactly what we did to Chesterfield last Tuesday night – sat in central areas. Today, we got done by not playing with enough pace in our passing.

β€œBromley came here and got it spot on with a typical away team performance, but we need to be quicker and try to hurt them. We had two or three great chances, but we just didn’t take them.”

The Ravens opened the scoring from the penalty spot which was a decision to be argued, the Gaffer gave his opinion on it.

β€œI didn’t think the actual foul was a penalty, but there was a foul two seconds prior to that which I thought was a penalty with all things considered.”

Wild later summarised the second half; β€œWe moved the ball quicker in the second half and we started to hurt them more and get in behind; and into the box but they got bodies in front and blocked our chances.”

James Alabi made the game 2-0 right at the death before Neill Byrne snuck in with a consolation just after, the Gaffer spoke about what the message was for the short period after Byrne’s goal.

β€œI’m pleased we got a goal, but it was definitely far too late – we pushed men forward, but it just wasn’t to be.”

Wild ended the interview by mentioning new signing Darren Stephenson, and why the Curzon Ashton forward was brought to the club on-loan until the end of the season; β€œDaz is a top player, and I’ve known him for years; he’s played in the league above, this league and the league below. Darren is a very strong, powerful and physical centre forward, and with our luck with forwards this season I thought we could do with another – you can’t have too many forwards. He will need some time to get sharp, but he will be a great asset.”
