The Shaymen drew 2-2 with top of the league Sutton United yesterday afternoon and Town centre half Tom Bradbury spoke to Shaymen TV after the final whistle.

Bradbury began by giving his views on the 90 minutes as Town led 2-0 but were pulled back to a 2-2; “Looking at it now, that was really frustrating because I thought we did a good job on them and you could see that when we went 2-0 up.

“We had a game plan and didn’t show them any respect and played well, but for whatever reason we dropped in the second half. To be honest, I just didn’t see them scoring two goals, but we threw our aggression out of the window and conceded two goals – it’s frustrating.”

He added; “Albeit they are top of the league, but for me today that was two points dropped.”

Tom later tried to pinpoint a certain catalyst on Sutton getting back into the game; “I think we stopped passing, naturally you drop when you have a two-goal lead and try to see the game out. We brought Jake Hyde on and went long when we probably didn’t need to, because in the first half we did well with the ball on the ground. So, I think we went long too early. Once we played it long, Sutton just bombed it back into our area and box and then it was thirty minutes of just defending.”

Bradbury then gave a positive outlook on how Halifax managed to go toe-to-toe with top of the league, saying; “Doing well in the first hour breathes confidence for the last thirty minutes but in all honesty, I didn’t really think Sutton looked like a team top of the league.

“But we will take the point because it’s a point more than what we had at the start of the day – we just need to go and win some more games, and this will look like a good point earned.”

Lastly, the defender looked ahead to the visit of Weymouth which is the next game for the Shaymen – a week on Monday; “It’s a must-win, we thumped them 5-1 at their place, and it won’t be that easy again, but we’ve got to look for a win if we want to be in the top seven. It’s no disrespect to Weymouth but teams like that we need to face them and do the business.”
