After FC Halifax Town’s convincing 3-1 win over Eastleigh, striker Nyal Bell spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.
“It was a really good game,” Bell said. “They are a very good side. I thought we had a bit too much quality for them and it really shone through tonight. We have a great defence. Personally, I believe three at the back suits us as a team. We were far more solid than them and we had plenty of opportunities to counter.”
Goals from Jamie Allen and Kieran Green put the Shaymen 2-0 up before half time. Bell believes the two-goal cushion helped the team play with greater confidence and more freedom.
“It was a nice finish from Jamie,” Bell told Shaymen TV. “It is good to see him back fit and running again as well. Hopefully, I will be playing up front with him soon. Getting one just before half time as well is the perfect time to score. It really helps the lads when you get a goal before the break.”
Bell scored a potential goal-of-the-season to put Town 3-1 up with little time remaining. The striker was proud of his effort and was delighted it turned out to be the winning goal.
“Just throw me on and I know where the net is,” Bell said. “If I am even given half a chance, I am going to take it. You have a shot and if it goes in it goes in, and if it doesn’t it doesn’t, you just have to go again. I am just glad that this time, it went in.”
Town travel to face Hartlepool on boxing day for the second of three fixtures against the Pools. It is a game Bell is looking forward to and is hoping for a repeat performance.
“They are a good team,” Bell told Shaymen TV. “We cannot be complacent now; we have got to keep moving on and keep getting the wins. It was difficult here last time; we know we have to put in a better performance than last time. Hopefully, we can carry on scoring goals as well.”
