FC Halifax Town manager Pete Wild was frustrated to lose 2-0 at home to Boreham Wood after dominating large parts of the match at The Shay this afternoon.

Though Town retain their place at the top of the table going into the F.A. Cup break next weekend, Wild was disappointed that the only difference between the sides were two goals from set pieces.

The manager spoke to Shaymen TV immediately after the match, giving his thoughts on the manner of the goals conceded, next week’s F.A. Cup and a rematch against Harrogate Town.

On the game…

“It’s another game that we’ve dominated the ball. Another game that we’ve completely controlled. It’s a sucker punch, we’ve been done by two set-pieces. The reality is, it is another team that has come here and sat behind the ball and waited for their opportunities. That’s three home games without a goal now, I know that. It’s something I’ve got to address, something we made need to tweak. We need to find a way, that when teams do sit back, we can break them down.”

On the two set-piece goals…

“It’s really disappointing because they are the ones you can affect. When you dominate the game, you can’t then give away set pieces. It is something you can control, if you don’t control them it is your undoing, which it has been today.”

On the F.A. Cup…

“It means we can address a few things on the training ground. One of those things is trying to score at home, two is trying to break down teams who are sitting. We are going to get back on the training ground. I’m looking forward to this week because it’s a different challenge.”

On facing Harrogate Town again…

“Harrogate dealt us a sucker punch. We want to get one back on them. I’m not concentrating on them, I’m making sure we get things right for next Saturday. Potentially how well we are doing is our downfall at the moment. Teams are paying us a lot of respect. Another team has come and changed their formation today.”
