Yeovil Town: Match Preview

FC Halifax Town host Yeovil Town in the Vanarama National League at The Shay on Saturday 7 September; 3pm kick off. 

The Shaymen go into the game sitting at the top of the Vanarama National League table, following their 3-2 victory over Chesterfield on Tuesday 3 September which saw them lead the table on goal difference from second placed Woking. Goals from Jamie Allen, Nathan Clarke and Cameron King helped Pete Wild’s side to the three points at Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium. 

The win at Chesterfield meant that The Shaymen have now won four National League games in succession, while also achieving their seventh league win of the season from just nine games. Town have also scored the most goals in the league with 19 goals in the goals scored column so far this season. 

As for opponents Yeovil, they head to West Yorkshire in 9th place in the table, after taking 13 points from their first nine games in the National League. Last time out, Yeovil managed a narrow 1-0 victory at home to Sutton United. Tom Bradbury’s goal separated the sides at Yeovil’s Huish Park. 

This was their second consecutive victory in the league, as they also beat Notts County 3-1 at Huish Park on Saturday 31 August. Courtney Duffus, Luke Wilkinson and Myles Hippolyte helped Darren Sarll’s side to the three points. 

The two sides last faced each other in 2003 in the fifth tier of English football. Yeovil came out 3-2 victors on this occasion at The Shay. 

Saturday’s game will be refereed by Joe Hull and he will be assisted by Martin Chester and Christopher Reeson. Darren Brown will be the fourth official at The Shay.
