Solihull Moors: 10 Things - FC Halifax Town

FC Halifax Town entertain Solihull Moors on Saturday who are one of the best performing teams in the league, currently sitting 2^nd in the league. But now to tell you 10 things you may not know about our opponents this weekend.

Solihull are currently managed by ex-Blackburn and Premier league winner Tim Flowers! This is only his second full time managerial job who managed Stafford Rangers in 2010-11, he also had two stints as caretaker manager for Northampton Town.
The club are one of the youngest in the top 5 tiers of English football having only been founded in 2007. F.C Halifax Town, the only younger club after reformation in 2008.
The club was born after the merger of the clubs Solihull Borough and Moor Green who had 160 years of combined history.
Known as ‘The Moors’ the West Midlands club are currently based at the 3,050 capacity, Damson Park.
The club in 2014 also agreed to share their ground with Women’s Super League team Birmingham L.F.C. Who have since used the ground for all their home games?
Last season Solihull finished 18^th and only six points above the relegation zone, this season has seen a massive improvement as the club now looks up to the football league.
Solihull sit on 73 points, level on points with Leyton Orient who are currently top on goal difference. Solihull have also won more games at this point in the season than any other team in the National League and have won the fifth highest amount of games in the top five tiers of English football. Bested only by Luton, Norwich, Liverpool and Manchester City.
No matter what happens for the remaining games, history will be made for Solihull Moors who could mathematically only finish as low as 12^th which would still be their highest ever league finish in the football pyramid.
In 2013/14 the club (Then only 6 years old) went through a dramatic restructuring. The club set up a full youth academy and ladies’ team. This meant the club went from only three different teams to an astonishing 27.
If all goes well for the remainder of the season for ‘The Moors’ they will become a football league side for the first time in their short history and will become only the sixth West Midlands club to play in the top four tiers, joining: Aston Villa, Birmingham City, Coventry City, Walsall, West Brom and Wolves.

The game will provide a huge test for Town as they face off against one of the best in the league but with 8 games still to go, anything could happen.
