Supported by the National League Trust Shaytots is an innovative way for children aged 6-months to 4 years to learn and enjoy sport. Sessions are focused on fun and structured play and include full parental participation.
Using the FC Halifax Town coaching syllabus and specially selected equipment the programme uses football as a medium to introduce toddlers to a variety of exercises to help develop physical skills of agility, balance and coordination, children will also be helped with their first steps in reading and numeracy.
The current phase two children have been working on colour recognition and numeracy skills, one parent said ‘we love our weekly Shaytots sessions; as a working mum to a busy toddler we enjoy that we learn and have fun, as well as time together, all in one session. My little boy has learnt his colours during the sessions and is keen to count everything at home, just like at Shaytots!’
During recent phase three sessions the children have mastered the step over and are beginning to improve their balance, as well as working hard to use their weaker foot.
Sessions are held on a Thursday at St Thomas’ Parish Hall, Rochdale Road, Greetland. For further information regarding booking a free trial session please contact Kirsty on shaytots@fchalifaxtown.com or 07854865933.
