Last night FC Halifax Town battled for a 0-0 draw with league leaders Wrexham. After a hard-fought result, the official website was able to speak with manager Jamie Fullarton after the match to get his thoughts on the performance.

As the game took place in Wales, we’re officially dubbing it a “midweek European night under the lights”. We even joked with Jamie about this and he said:

“I’m not so sure we can call this a European night but having been here before, I knew the atmosphere would be fantastic; a crowd of nearly 5,500. When you see the group of fans that we brought tonight, they more than made themselves heard and it was magnificent. They really spurred the players on and it just added to the atmosphere”.

The atmosphere was intensified when The Shaymen bagged themselves a goal that was then disallowed by the linesman. Jamie had this to say about that situation:

“We scored a goal that was then chopped off and I still don’t know why. Having asked them to make their goalkeeper change his top as it was too like ours might have impacted what the officials had seen in amongst the melee. The fourth official acknowledged it but didn’t do anything about it which is disappointing”.

Jamie was then quick to give credit to his players after two tough away trips on the spin.

“Great credit to the players after playing against two teams that are in the top seven. They showed why we are where we are now”.

After yesterday’s result, FC Halifax Town remain in 4th place in the Vanarama National League. We will now welcome 2nd placed Leyton Orient to the MBi Shay Stadium this Saturday and we hope to see you there.

The full interview with Jamie Fullarton is available right now on Shaymen TV.
