Jamie Fullarton extended his unbeaten run in charge of FC Halifax Town as his side were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Solihull Moors.
Both goalkeepers were outstanding with the two sides able to create good chances throughout and itβs a surprise the score was never broken. Mike Fondop-Talom could have scored in both halves but missed the target once and was denied by a fantastic save.
The first half was a half of two halves, with both teams creating chances in the first 45 minutes. Itβs safe to say FC Halifax Town did create the better chances and definitely should have taken the lead. The Shaymen found joy down both wings with full backs Josh Wilde and new singing Jacob Hanson getting to the by-line on a few occasions to pull back decent crosses.
Tomlinson had chances in the first 45 minutes to add to his goal against Guiseley last week. Unfortunately, he couldnβt quite connect with both of his efforts as he would have liked and they were both saved by OβLeary in goal for Solihull Moors.
The stand out chance of the half fell to Mike Fondop-Talom, the on-loan striker had a few minutes to forget as he blazed a one-on-one well over the bar and was then booked for diving as he went over OβLeary as he tried to round the young goalkeeper.
Kosylo also had chances, the midfielder had a shot on the left-hand side of the box, but the angle was against him and he could only find the side netting.
Solihull Moors did have their fair amount of chances as well though. The away side started well and full-back Jamie Reckford fired his snapshot from the edge of the box straight at the reliable Johnson.
Paul Green also had a wonderful effort for the Midlands club. His rocket whistled just past the post as he let fly from around 25-yards from goal.
Despite not being to break the deadline in the first 45 minutes, Halifax didnβt change things at half time.
The side in the relegation zone came flying out of the gates at half time. Solihull continued to press Halifax and Wilde conceded possession only for Thomas to fluff his lines and shoot straight at Johnson.
Just minutes later, Adi Yussuf had a great chance to break the deadlock. The ball fell to the striker inside of Johnsonβs six-yard box but the number 9 couldnβt keep his shot down.
In comparison FC Halifax Town struggled to create the chances they created in the first half, in the second.Β The Shaymen were getting into the space to have efforts at goal, but the final ball kept being misplaced.
Jake Hibbs was introduced in the 69th minute and Halifax instantly created a chance. His corner came back out and he had a second chance to deliver. The flat delivery found captain Matty Brown who headed against the post with OβLeary scrambling.
The match became open as the game ticked on. A long throw into the box from George Carline was met by a bullet header but from point-blank range, Sam Johnson flew across his goal to make a world class save.
OβLeary also made a world class save in the 85th minute. A fantastic break from FC Halifax Town as Matty Kosylo ran the length of the pitch and squared to his team mate, Fondop- Talom. The striker should have scored, but OβLeary jumped out in front of the striker and saved the powerful shot with his face.
Johnson wasnβt finished though. The massive goalkeeper instinctively stuck a strong right hand in the air to parry Paul Greenβs flick over the bar.
