Scott Garner spoke to Shaymen Player this evening after the 3-1 home defeat to Brackley Town, and admits it just wasn’t Halifax Town’s day.

“We’ve conceded three uncharacteristic goals, which we’re not used to conceding, but if you look at it, it just hasn’t been our day. We’ve hit the post, and the ball hit the keeper and almost rolled in, and he’s had a good game. We created plenty of chances and if we’d taken them at 1-0 up we could have won the game, but it’s a learning curve.”

Garner also says the defeat has also taught the Shaymen some important lessons.

“The defeat is a reminder that you have to get the game right all over the pitch, but hopefully we can get back on track and get back on a winning run. I think it’s just disappointing we don’t have a league game next week to put it right.”

Speaking of next week’s FA Cup visit to Dagenham, Garner says the whole squad is relishing the opportunity.

“We’ll go there and try to win as always. We’ll get ourselves into the game and try to stay solid. The game is an overnighter so we’ll go down the day before to get in the right mindset and prepare properly, so we can try and win the game.”

“We will go about the game as we do any other, we’ll attack teams and we’ve done our homework. Hopefully Dents can create chaos again as usual.”
