Speaking after the impressive 8-1 West Riding County Cup win at Ossett Albion last night, manager Billy Heath says he was impressed with the way the squad approached the game.

“The attitude of the boys was the main thing and it’s something we spoke about before the game, that the attitude had to be right. They approached the game in the right way and it was confident.”

The gaffer was also impressed with the performance of youngster Shiraz Khan, who scored in the match.

“Shiraz did really well. He’s a great player and being on loan at Frickley has really helped him. He’s a young player, so it’s toughened him up a bit. He’s improved his defending as well and we know he’s a great talent on the football, we’ve all seen it.”

“All the young players played well tonight. They all played their part and it was pleasing.”

Heath also says the performances tonight has given him some ideas about the development of the younger players.

“We’ve got to be careful what we do with the younger lads, but we’re looking to get a few out on loan so they’re playing competitive men’s football. It’s all about experience, because the jump from youth football to a very strong National League North is huge.”
