FC Halifax Town will make the journey to league leaders, Macclesfield Town as their festive fixtures continue on Boxing Day.
Billy Heath’s men are coming into the fixture undoubtedly with high confidence following their outstanding victory away at the promotion chasing Aldershot Town and more recently their 4-0 demolition of Chester FC. They will hope that the results can kick-start a run of good form that they can carry forward throughout the busy festive period.
The two towns have seen plenty of each in footballing terms since Halifax’s revival in 2008 with league games in the 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 season
The sides were set to meet each other for the first time this season in the FA Trophy just over a week ago, However, match officials ruled that the playing service was unplayable and the match was postponed. After a rescheduling for Tuesday 19th December the fixture was again postponed and will now be played on the 9th January 2018 after the two sides have faced each other twice in league fixtures.
Looking back on the previous results, this fixture has not produced a plethora of goals and seems to have been a tight match-up.
Town avoided defeat in all six matches but in our last meeting, the Shaymen were relegated on the final day of the 2015/16 season with a 1-1 draw that wasn’t enough to stay up.
Earlier that season Town had walked away from Moss Rose with a full three points. The Shaymen kept a clean sheet as the game finished 0-1 with Shaun Tuton claiming the only goal of the match.
The Shaymen will look to continue their climb away from the lower section of the league table with the travelling upporters certain to be behind the side following their back-to-back wins.
