Alex Simmons is all smiles following his excellent start to life at FC Halifax Town.

The striker arrived at The Shay a fortnight ago on a short-term loan deal from Lincoln City.

And it seems the temporary switch from Sincil Bank has certainly impacted well on both himself and Billy Heath’s squad.

Speaking after his two first-half goals helped his side beat Bradford Park Avenue 4-0 on his home league debut, Simmons had this to say:

“It was really enjoyable today. Obviously the lads put in a shift, and a got a good win, so everyone’s happy.”

Simmons’ first appearance in a Shaymen shirt came in last weekend’s 5-0 FA Cup success at Ashton Athletic, in which he opened his account and now has 4 in two games. The forward highlights the importance of how the team can benefit from his contribution.

“I’m enjoying it. I’m getting chances, and hopefully this can carry on like today, picking up points that can help us push back up.

“Knowing the club from last season, seeing how big it is, how good it is… I need the minutes too so I definitely jumped at the chance to come here. It’s been class so far playing with the other attackers, so it’s all good.

“Hopefully we’ll get through the game next week [vs Stalybridge in the FA Cup]; get through into the next round and go from there, try and get ourselves on a roll now.”
