Good afternoon, and welcome to you all. This is our first home match since the Nuneaton game three weeks ago, which was actually our only scheduled home fixture during the whole month of February. Sometimes I wonder about the people who plan these things, but I suppose it’s not a simple task.
Anyway, as far as the Supporters Club are concerned, this is probably our biggest day of the season. It is of course the day of our match sponsorship, and all that comes with it.
Some of the itinerary is well known – a slap up meal before the game, seats in the East Stand, free matchday programmes for instance. Some of the other intricacies aren’t just as obvious – who wants to go on the pitch for a pre-match photograph, how do we co-ordinate our choice for man of the match, who’s covering the bucket collections etc.
Pleasingly, we have again got thirty-plus people joining us for our big day out. Star billing must go to Roger and Hazel Burchall, who today celebrate (to the exact day) 68 years of marriage. Also worthy of a special mention are Dave, Chris and Debra Neatby, who help the Supporters Club in so many positive ways, including the Lego Shay Stadium initiative earlier this season.
Not with our group today but doing his “own thing” is Supporters Club main sponsor Darren Playford. We would like to take this opportunity to again place on record our appreciation of his continuing Supporters Club Sponsorship.
I can categorically state that previous versions of our annual extravaganza have gone really well, and have been enjoyed by all those who participated. It is a good thing to go away with the feeling that we have been looked after by Ben Bottomley and all at FCHT. Roll on next year!
