Pete Wild gave ShaymenTV his thoughts following the 1-0 away defeat at Torquay United.

“I thought we played well, I thought we defended well, I thought we created good chances. We fought the wind in the first half, and we created good chances in the second half. They threw everything on the line, they put bodies on the line, and they did everything to stop us scoring and we had the chances to score, but we didn’t. Unfortunately, we’ve got done off what is a foul from a set piece. The referee has been told three times that there would be three lads stood in offside positions on a set piece to block us, and he’s been told and told and told, and he’s done nothing about it. What’s frustrating for the boys is that they’ve worked so hard and they get undone by what is a foul and it’s disappointing. It’s one of them days, we’ve thrown everything at them, we deserved at least a point and unfortunately we’ve come away with nothing.”

The gaffer said “100%” that Town could’ve taken all three points from the game on another day.

“The only thing I’m frustrated about is the foul for the goal. It’s the only thing I’m frustrated about- I thought the lads gave everything. It wasn’t Cam King or Devante Rodney’s day, we tried to switch it around, we tried to get Jamie and Jack on to give us some form of impetus and I think they did that, we just couldn’t get over the line today, not for want of trying. We’re going to have days like this, it’s going to be tight, it’s going to be nervy but we’re going to crack on and move on to next week.”

Speaking about the three changes to the starting eleven, the gaffer said.

“Jacob’s been waiting for his chance, I thought he did well today. I thought Tobi was excellent today, I thought he led the line well and was a threat all game, and of course, having Browny back is fantastic and we’re back up to full strength and we’re now back up to where we want to be in terms of personnel.”

And on next week’s trip to Eastleigh, the gaffer said.

“It’s another long away trip and we’ve got to make sure we’re resolute, make sure we defend like we defended today and hope one of them chances will go in, and fingers crossed it will for us.”
