FC Halifax Town welcome Wrexham to the Shay, for Towns final home game in the 2018/19 Vanarama National League season.

Both teams were in action on Good Friday, Town travelled north to Victoria Park to face Hartlepool. The Shaymen were on able to capitalise on a strong first half performance. In which Devante Rodney scored his sixth goal of the season.

Wrexham hosted play-off chasers Sutton United to North Wales in what was a must win game for The U’s. In a tight affair with over 5,000 fans in attendance, they saw Sutton clinging on a slim play-off chance. But that play-off hope was thwarted when Kieran Kennedy put The Dragons ahead 12 minutes from time. The result means Wrexham keep the pressure on Solihull Moors who currently sit third. For Sutton although they can still mathematically qualify for the play-offs, it would require teams above them losing both of their reaming games and The U’s taking a maximum six points from six.

Town currently sit in 15th in the league, winning three points could see The Shaymen rise into the top half of the league. However, a win for Wrexham will see them rise into third position if Solihull Moors lose to Leyton Orient. The move up to third would have major importance as The Dragons bid to end their 11-year absence from the football league.

The last time these teams met was in early September at the Racecourse Ground, the game would finish 0-0. In an open game Town thought they took an early lead after Jonny Edwards put his header in the back of the net from a corner but, the referee chalked off Towns goal for a foul by Edwards. Former Town striker Mike Fondop-Talom had the best chance for the home side as he rattled the crossbar from 40 yards.
