Saturday the 1st of December will see FC Halifax Town welcome League One side AFC Wimbledon to the MBi Shay stadium as they look to progress further into the FA Cup and past the 2nd round.

The West Yorkshire outfit will entertain the side from South West London who are coming into the game in a mixed run of form. AFC Wimbledon have picked up 2 wins in their last 5 games and currently sit 23rd in League One.

The Wombles last five games started with a 4-0 drubbing of Stevenage in the Football League Trophy courtesy of goals from Kwesi Appiah, Tyler Garratt, Anthony Wordsworth and Alfie Egan. They then secured their progression into the current stage of the FA Cup after beating Haringey Borough 1-0 in the previous round after Mitchell Pinnock’s 90th minute winner.

The Don’s first defeat of this run then came at the hands of Yorkshire based side Doncaster Rovers after a late Tommy Rowe goal made sure they headed back down South empty handed. However, they bounced back well and disposed of Southend United 2-1 after another Mitchell Pinnock winner. Their most recent result sees them head into the tie with Halifax on the back of a defeat after Marcus Maddison handed promotion hopefuls Peterborough a 1-0 win.

Goals have been difficult to come by for the South side, they are the lowest scorers in the league having only amassed 14 goals and having conceded 30 they find themselves with the second worst goal difference in the league. However, striker Kwesi Appiah will provide a threat having played at the highest level with Crystal Palace and Internationally for Ghana.

FC Halifax Town are heading into the second-round tie on the back of a mixed run of form in their recent games.

The run began with a well fought draw at Midlands side Solihull Moors after a 0-0 draw saw both sides leave with a point. This was followed by a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Havant and Waterlooville after a Niall Maher goal proved to only be a consolation after a Rutherford winner in the 64th minute.

The first of two clashes against League Two side Morecambe came next and the Shaymen gave a very good account of themselves to pick up a 0-0 draw, forcing a replay back at the MBi Shay. Another positive result followed the side from West Yorkshire beat relegation candidates Dover Athletic 1-0 thanks to a first half Matty Kosylo goal.

That win over Dover was followed by the win which sees the Shaymen in the second round of the FA Cup, a 1-0 win over Morecambe after their second meeting in 10 days, it was Cameron King who provided the crucial strike to see FC Halifax Town through.

However, they like AFC Wimbledon head into this clash on the back of a defeat after succumbing 4-0 away at Ebbsfleet United with a Danny Kedwell penalty contributing to the win.

Both sides will have to be on their best form to move forward into the third round of the FA Cup with both outfits matched.
