Tuesday the 4th of September sees FC Halifax Town travel to Wales to take on Wrexham FC at the Racecourse Ground.

Jamie Fullarton and his men make the journey across the border with the intentions of putting in a good display and look to regain top spot in the National League from the hosts managed by former Bolton Wanderers and Wolves manager Sam Ricketts.

The Shaymen come looking for the victory but will face a tough challenge in the league leaders who have managed to score 13 goals so far in this campaign, making them the league’s second highest scorers.

The Shay have been in good form in the opening stages of the season and will be looking to get back to winning ways after drawing 1-1 with Sutton United but it will not be an easy task to dislodge the top placed team who have also been in superb form since the campaign began.

The side from North Wales will be looking to improve on last season’s 10th place finish and to do that have bought in several new faces as well as a new man in the dugout to reach their aim of returning to the football league for the first time in 10 years.

Wrexham can thank new signing Mike Fandop-Talom for hitting the ground running and helping The Dragons sit at the top of the league, contributing 5 goals in his first 8 appearances.

The Cameroonian who came to England only 6 years ago enjoyed a moderately successful loan spell at Halifax in the second half of the last campaign where he managed to accumulate 4 strikes in 10 games for The Shaymen helping them secure safety.

The striker who is described as a powerful presence with quick feet and a clinical finish joined Wrexham on a free in July of this year after attracting attention from a number of clubs around the division and higher and Sam Ricketts has broadcasted his elation at securing the services of the 24 year old.

After moving to the country the forward turned out for clubs down the lower leagues of English football during six years crammed full of appearances for different teams.

The Cameroon native turned out for teams such as Whitehawk, Stanway Rovers, Billericay Town and Oxford City where he managed to score 8 goals in 27 games before making his move into National League football.

Fondop-Talom made his national league debut in 2017 turning out for West Yorkshire side Guiseley A.F.C where he scored 3 goals in 19 games before being loaned out to The Shaymen in the second half of last season.

The striker who has scored a total of 19 goals in his 39 league matches will provide a strong test for the Halifax backline with some of them being all too familiar with the player from his recent spell in West Yorkshire.

Jamie Fullarton will be hoping to return from North Wales with all three points on Tuesday but will have to be at their best to dispose of Sam Ricketts high flying Dragons.
