Tom Clarke joins the Shaymen from League One side Fleetwood Town.

Clarke came through the academy at Huddersfield Town and went on to make over 100 appearances for the Terriers, mainly in League One.

During his time with Huddersfield, Clarke spent time on loan with the Shaymen in 2008, as well as spells with Bradford City and Leyton Orient. Whilst with Huddersfield, Clarke was also capped by England at both under 18s and under 19s level. In 2013, Clarke joined Preston North End, then of League One. During his seven years with Preston, The defender helped them gain promotion to the Championship, winning the play-offs in 2015.

Following his time at Preston, Clarke signed for Salford City and made 30 appearances in League Two for the Ammies as they finished in 8th place, narrowly missing out on the play-offs.

Following the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, Clarke was released and went on to sign for Fleetwood Town in League One. The defender made 35 appearances in the league, helping Fleetwood to a 20th placed finish, only avoiding the drop on goal difference.

Clarke is the younger brother of former Shaymen captain Nathan Clarke.
