Joe started his career with his home town club Huddersfield Town having come through their academy.
He made 68 appearances for the Terries before having loan spells with Hartlepool United and Shrewsbury Town.
In 2010, he joined Bury for the first time making 130 appearances before a move to Rotherham following a successful loan deal in 2013.
He then spent three years at Oxford United making 89 league appearances before returning to Gigg Lane last year.
