FC Halifax Town U19s fell to a 3-2 defeat against Yorkshire Amateur AFC at Wyke Sports Village in a match that included drama right at the very end

Straight away Town were looking to press on the front foot, having a good opportunity in the 6th minute with George Burrows making a darting run down the left but going just a second early he was found offside

Only minutes later, the away side took the lead. A low corner ended up bouncing off the players in the box and somehow ended up in the back of the net to make it 1-0

Despite this goal, Town were In control of the match throughout the first half, forcing the opposition to play route one football to try and get out of their own half

Another chance for Town in the 23rd minute, Luke Brooks receiving the ball on the half turn from Harvey Coates played a lovely threaded ball through to Favour Gold but the defender managed to get the interception just in time to prevent Town from having a one-on-one opportunity

In the 41st minute, Ryan Gill was sent off. The striker was heading through on goal and he came out of his box and played the man preventing him from scoring

HALF TIME:   FC Halifax Town 0-1  Yorkshire Amateur AFC

Despite having ten men, Town was doing very well, not having as much control of the ball but they were still in the match and creating chances

In the 63rd minute, Lewis Barlow was leading the press excellently winning the ball back for his side. He fed the ball to Gold who earned a corner. The inswinger caught the goalkeeper out but unfortunately, the ball didn’t find its way under the crossbar and went out for a goal kick

The 65th minute saw Town equalised. Gold beat the keeper and battled away with the defender to get to the ball. As got there first and was rewarded with an open goal to get his side square

Three minutes later the away side scored, a free kick into the box was headered away but it was met with a first-time volley that went in the bottom right corner to give Yorkshire Amateurs the lead again

The goal from the opposition took some of the momentum away from Town allowing them to have a breather from the intense press

Town found an equaliser in the 86th minute, one of the best goals the side could score as a team. Gold receives the ball and a lobbed pass to Barlow is met with a chipped shot over the keeper Ashton Peltier made sure it went in to make it two apiece

Only seconds later, the away side equalised. Scoring the final goal of the game resulted in home defeat

A performance with many positives as Town continued fighting for the points until the very end. They travel to Marine for the next match hoping to rectify today’s defeat
