FC Halifax Town U19’s were back in action at the Wyke Community Sports Village against York City in a 2PM kick off.
A match that the Youth Team did not manage to win in the National League Academy League as they lost 3-1 to York City. Town opened the scoring in the third minute with a well-executed strike from Filipe Costello.
The young Shaymen had numerous opportunities to extend their lead that they failed to convert. A hard defeat that puts the U19’s at the foot of the table after York snatched victory with late goals.
Town U19’s coach, Jack Garside spoke after the game: “Frustratingly I find myself repeating comments from previous weeks. The lads executed the game plan first half, especially from our high press but then failed to punish the opposition.”
He concluded, “We could have been three or four goals up at half time if we showed more composure and quality in front of goal. Second half York made their changes who impacted the game but three shots on target cannot lead to three goals conceded, we will review the footage as individuals and units and look ahead to training to support the players to learn from it.”
“There have been many positive aspects to our performances over recent weeks but we have failed to convert those performances into results. Whilst our aim and main focus is on developing individual players hopefully over the coming weeks results will come as reward for the work players are putting in to training and games.”
