We spoke to defender Nathan Clarke after the 3-2 win against Chesterfield. We discussed the win, his goal and pre-match talk on Yeovil Town.

Jake: First of all, Nathan, your goal tonight it has been given to you if you didn’t know. Can you talk us through that goal?

Nathan: Well, yeah, to be honest we’ve been working on a lot of corner routines, we felt we were getting close, but not close enough. We were expecting them to put it on a sixpence for us to go and score, but you know they’ve been working hard with that, with Milly behind the scenes, a lot of work on set-plays and thankfully it’s paid off for us today.

Jake: What were your thoughts on the overall performance in the end?

Nathan: First half we we’re really good, sloppy in areas, but we looked comfortable and we looked again threatening going forward, strong at the back with Staunts coming in, who slots in nice and comfortably, so yeah first half really good. So, yeah, we were hoping to kick on really from that.

Jake: Looking ahead to Yeovil on the weekend, what’s your thoughts about them?

Nathan: Again, just another game we look forward to. We’re on a fantastic run, the more games we can play, the better. We get to work on Yeovil now and look forward to, I guess.

Jake: Finally, we’re unbeaten so far at The Shay this season, how important are the home games for us?

Nathan: Massive, the pitch and the stadium really suits us. Again, we’re getting more through the turnstiles, which is credit to the lads, the manager and the staff, everything just seems right at the moment and we’ve got to keep that positivity going. Again, the travelling support, massively behind us, it’s fantastic, I know it’s not a long way, but it’s a bit of money for everyone to come. Hopefully we break another record, with fans coming through the gates and hopefully put on a good performance, we’ll definitely be working hard from now to Saturday to do that.
