MATCH-PREVIEW: Saturday 11th April 2026 – Yeovil Town vs FC Halifax Town
Yeovil Town: Current position 14th – P43 W15 D5 L23 F47 A61 GD-14 PTS50
“The performance and the game was always going to be difficult today. We were poor, but the reason why is we’re currently playing with ‘one leg and an eye patch on’ and an ‘empty tank’. Even today we’ve had to bring players onto the pitch who are already injured and sick. We had a lad come on due to injury who then got injured himself. We finished the game with three academy lads on – well with the greatest of respect, they’re college players. In a few weeks’ time looking back on this 2-1 defeat [to Eastleigh] you’ll probably say it wasn’t too bad” – Yeovil Manager Billy Rowley reflecting on The Glovers’ result on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Somerset club are mathematically safe from relegation in the Enterprise National League with Rowley adding the team are “limping over the finish line”. Overall, as the club’s fourth Manager of the season, he feels the team has improved and become a “’win, lose, win, lose’ type of club which is midtable” (this is also evidenced in The Glovers only drawing five League matches so far with forty three of forty-six matches played).
On The Shaymen,
“We’ll have to check in with the medical team, but we’ll be prepared come Saturday”.
Not a lot more to add regarding The Glovers. As Rowley has touched upon their National League position and form reflects recent results. Yeovil have overall beaten teams below and lost to teams higher in the table through the month of March/early April.
FC Halifax Town: Current position 8th – P43 W19 D9 L15 F66 A60 GD6 PTS66
Town gained their 700th League Home point since August 2008 in the 2-2 draw versus Tamworth Bank Holiday Monday (P394 W197 D109 L88 F686 A422 GD264). It could have been more, however the injury time penalty from Will Harris made it a seventh spot kick missed/saved of ten awarded to The Shaymen this season. Adam Lakeland has spoken previously of it being an ongoing ‘Achilles Heel’ but correctly declared the miss should not define the season Will Harris has had for the club.
The club come into the Yeovil match with one point less than this time last season but find themselves two places lower in the Enterprise National League. Overall Lakeland has spoken of being proud of his players’ efforts in his, and many of his squads’ maiden season at The Shay with his target now to win twenty games in a season; a feat not achieved by Town since 2021/22 when they finished 4th in Pete Wild’s final at the helm.
Whilst The Shaymen have a few injury woes of their own at the back, Loanee Ash Palmer has extended his stay from York City this week until the end of the season which Lakeland publicly said he was always keen to do.
