Good afternoon, and welcome to you all. Today we receive familiar opponents in Woking FC. I would guess that Woking are the team we have faced most often since the start of our recent non-league campaigns in 1993, although I’ll leave it to someone with a bit more time than myself to confirm this or alternatively to correct me!
Thank you to those of you who attended our recent Football Quiz night at the Flying Dutchman pub in Boothtown. A good time was had by all, and quizmaster Dave Crossley had everyone scratching their heads as usual. Thanks also to our friends from Bradford Park Avenue for their participation, and to John Chew for providing the venue. The event raised £135 for Supporters Club funds; roll on the next one!
Our next function is the annual trip to the dogs at Belle Vue. This takes place on Saturday 25th November, following the home fixture with Eastleigh. The coach leaves the MBi Shay car park at 6pm, with the cost likely to be around £10 per person. We leave the booking of admission and meals to yourselves, and further details including prices can be found online at https://www.lovethedogs.co.uk/belle-vue To reserve places on the coach, please speak to any Committee member, or call Dave Crossley on 07709 819917.
Phil Knott has been working hard on planning the route for our forthcoming sponsored walk to Guiseley. Although the fixture isn’t until March 17th, we need to give walkers time to attract sponsorship, so we intend “recruiting” as soon as Christmas and New Year celebrations are out of the way.
Our regular bucket collections are quite rightly suspended today in favour of the Royal British Legion. Any game played on November 11th wouldn’t feel right without them, although personally I have yet to be convinced that bringing things forward a week for the Premier League fixtures was the correct move.
See you soon, Kit.
