FC Halifax Town are delighted to confirm the signing of central midfielder Will Hugill following his release from Burnley.
Coming through the ranks at Burnley, Hugill was named captain of the under 21s during his time in the side. He also made his senior debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup last season. During the 2022/23 campaign, Hugill spent time on loan at Leek Town in the Northern Premier League Division One West, where he made 11 appearances, scoring twice.
In October last season, Hugill joined Chester in the National League North on a one-month loan where he made six appearances. Following the conclusion of this loan, the midfielder joined AFC Fylde on loan, initially for one month. This was then twice extended to keep Hugill with the Coasters for the remainder of the season. During his time with Fylde, Hugill made 26 league appearances and scored twice but couldn’t prevent Fylde from being relegated. Hugill featured in both games for the Coasters against The Shaymen last season.
