FC Halifax Town moved back up to 4th in the table with a 2-0 away victory over Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium.

Town boss Pete Wild made one change to the starting line up from last week’s 1-0 win over Barnet with Jordan Slew replacing Aaron Martin whilst Weymouth made three changes with Bradley Ash, Manasse Mampala and Dan Smith in for Brandon Goodship, Cameron Murray and Tom Bearwish from their starting XI against Stockport.

The home side started brightly winning a couple of quick corners, Dan Smith had a shot on the turn, but his effort wasn’t troubling the Town goal.

Jordan Slew had a shot that was blocked on 6 minutes and the Terras were able to clear.

The Town captain Niall Maher was the first man into the book on 11 minutes as he saw yellow for a late challenge on Haji Monga.

Kian Spence found Billy Waters at the edge of the box and his effort forced goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons into a save low down before Martin Woods had a chance as a clearance only came to him and he volleyed wide of the target.

Woods had a freekick curled wide of the target before Tyler Cordner had an effort from 25 yards out that went over the bar.

Woods had an effort come crashing off the crossbar, Spence looked to get onto the rebound, but the offside flag went up against the Town midfielder and it remained 0-0 at the break.

Town started the second half brightly, an early freekick from Woods forced Fitzsimons into parrying an effort away from goal.

Jesse Debrah’s ball forward for Waters fell to Waters and his shot was over the keeper but Manasse Kampala prevented Town from going ahead, clearing off the line.

However, the Shaymen finally went ahead through defender Tom Bradbury’s 53rd minute strike. A freekick from Luke Summerfield was turned goalward by a defender and Bradbury was on hand to send the ball into the net for his third goal against the Terras in three games having scored against them in both home and away games last season.

Pete Wild made his first substitution on 63 minutes with Zak Dearnley making his league debut for the Shaymen replacing Jamie Allen.

Bradley Ash had an effort wide of the target as the Terras looked for a way back into the game.

A great Debrah challenge stopped a Weymouth attack in the box just before Matty Warburton came on for Martin Woods who received a great reception from the travelling fans.

Town rounded off the victory in injury time. Substitute Jamie Thomas broke down the right hand side and his cross was collected by Zak Dearnley who collected, turned and hit a shot past Fitzsimons for a goal on his league debut.

The win ensured a 7th away victory of the season and Town will now look forward to three home games in a row with Dover Athletic, Bromley and Torquay coming to the Shay on Sat 12th March, Tues 15th March and Sat 19th March.
