Seven games were cut to six with Chorley were unable to bounce from their midweek defeat to the Shaymen on Tuesday after their clash away at Boston United was postponed.

Worcester City and FC United were held to a goalless draw in what was arguably the least exciting encounter of the weekend.

Onto the goals then and the second highest scoring of the day came at bottom-placed Altrincham. Gainsborough Trinity ran out as 3-2 winners but the home side almost pulled off a stunning late comeback. Trinity exploded out the blocks to be two up inside ten minutes before Ashley Worsfold grabbed his second just past the hour mark. The points looked sealed however 10 minutes from time saw Altrincham rally and almost produce an astonishing comeback.

Two goals in under 90 seconds from Andy Owens and John Cyrus set up a climatic final 9 minute. However, they couldn’t find the equaliser and remain routed to the bottom of the league table with eight points.

AFC Telford United go a month unbeaten after picking up a 3-1 victory at home to Curzon Ashton. Josh Wilson sealed all three points right at the death with his second of the game after Curzon took the lead through Niall Cummins before a brace from the striker and one through midfielder Eddie Jones.

There was late drama at Blackwell Meadows as Darlington snatch the win with two late goals against mid-table Gloucester City. Nathan Cartman bundled home a goal-mouth scramble on 82 minutes with a diving header from close range before a stunning left footed strike from Phil Turbull rocketed into the top corner in stoppage time.

The result means that Darlington leapfrog Salford City into 4th in the table.

And finally, Harrogate Town sent Bradford Park Avenue into the relegation places after a 1-0 victory. Simon Ainge’s strike on 10 minutes means they remain in tenth in the league.

There are some mid-week clashes taking place next week (Curzon Ashton vs Worcester City, AFC Telford United vs Brackley Town) before the Shaymen are back in action on Saturday at home to Salford City.
