Vanarama National League North Roundup

For the second time in three seasons Chorley have booked their place in the Vanarama National League North Promotion final.

The unlikely underdogs, who only find themselves fighting for promotion due to Darlingtonโ€™s failure to meet stadium requirements, over-turned a 1-0 deficit to beat favourites Kidderminster Harries 2-1 on aggregate at Aggborough.

Goals from Marcus Carver and a stoppage time winner from Adam Roscoe means that Chorley will head here, to the MBi Shay Stadium next Saturday to face home side FC Halifax Town.

After a disappointing first leg for the Magpies last Saturday, all was forgotten after 20 minutes when Carver beat the keeper Hornby to a 50/50 ball to round him to slide the ball into an empty net.

Around the MBi Shay Stadium, news was coming through that Andy Teague had doubled Chorleyโ€™s lead to put them two-up on the afternoon, but his free-kick could only bounce back off the bar tricking many news sights to award it as a goal. The score remained 1-1.

Back in 2011, Chorleyโ€™s Roscoe netted a last-gasp winner in the against Curzon Ashton in the play-off semi-final and when the board went up for eight minutes off additional time all eyes were on the forward again.

A stunning Paul Jarvis through-ball sent Roscoe one-on-one and while managing to hold off a Harrierโ€™s defender he could still poke the ball past Hornby giving the home side no time to respond and booking Chorley their place in the final.

Due to Halifaxโ€™s higher league positions, the Shaymen will have the home advantage on Saturday at what will be an undoubtedly loud MBi Shay Stadium.

Kidderminster Harriers and Salford City will both now begin to look to next season back in same division.

FC Halifax Town will face Chorley in the Vanarama National League North Promotion Final.ย
