A number of clubs sparkled in September as the new season really started to take shape.

It’s really rare that a team wins six times in the league inside a calendar month. But for two to do it? Well, our panel had some serious thinking to do.

Bromley and Chesterfield hit the deadly dozen and that made the Manager of the Month award far from a foregone conclusion.

In the end, it has to be Andy Woodman. Taking 19 points from a possible 21 was good enough for the decision makers and how things have changed down at Hayes Lane.

The month saw Bromley do a handbrake-turn on their form following a dismal first five weeks after ending August only three points off the foot of the table with just one win to their name.

Since then, the Ravens went unbeaten in eleven and took some real scalps. The only game they didn’t win in September was away to unbeaten Solihull Moors.

They defeated Altrincham, Maidenhead United, Oldham Athletic, Dagenham and Eastleigh – and ended things by getting the better of excellent Gateshead.

But the Heed don’t go home empty-handed. They have the Player of the Month award to show off after they kept ‘The Bear’ well fed.

Having helped Macaulay Langstaff rediscover his love for football, all eyes are on Marcus Dinanga after his stunning start of the new campaign.

He scored eight goals in September as Mike Williamson’s men shot up the table – taking his total for the season to 12 in 13 games.

He ended last month as the National League top scorer, some three goals clear of next-best Harry Cardwell. Over a third of Gateshead’s goals have come via Dinanga so far as the 25-year-old sharpshooter keeps producing.

The quick forward spent time with Altrincham, Dartford and Kidderminster in 2022-23.

He finally looks settled now and there’s no one more in form as the new season start to explode into life!
