The two FC Halifax Town U19’s teams were back on the pitch again this weekend as the U19’s team managed by Jack Garside lost their game against Oldham Athletic by one goal to zero. The Under 19’s managed by Nick, however, went on to win 4-1 against Marine at home.

In an Intense and hard-fought game, Garside’s boys came out defeated as they conceded a goal just before the end of the first half and with that goal being the decider of the game. Jack spoke on the game shortly after by saying “It was a good game played at a good intensity from both teams, unfortunately a mistake in the midfield led to conceding right before the halftime whistle. Second half we pushed but ultimately, we were wasteful in the final third and did not take our chances to get the equalizer”

Jack ended off by saying that, “In the end it is about helping the players develop and become the best versions of themselves. Several of the players are now out on loan at step 4/5/6 teams and getting exposure of the senior game. We finished the game with 5 first year players on the pitch and challenging the players on the scholarship is the focus for the coaches on the programme.”

After this defeat Garside’s men now sit bottom of the table in the NFLA North Division with ten points.

On the other hand, happy days for the second Halifax Town U19’s as Nick is unbeaten in the new year following their victory by 4-1 against Marine as this now takes them fourth in Division H.

Nick also spoke following this victory as he said, “This was the best football we have played all season. They have matured as a group as earlier this season Marine have beaten us physically, so it was a pleasing result.”

He continued, “We did not win for the first six games, and we have now gone unbeaten in the new year moving third bottom to fourth in the league so i have set them a target and it is to finish top two of the league.”

He concluded, “All these lads are very young; they are just first years, so they are still part of the program for another 12 months at least”.
