FC Halifax Town had a tremendous second-half performance to beat Torquay United 2-0 at The Shay. Striker Billy Waters scored against his former club before speaking to Shaymen TV.

Waters began his interview by reviewing his goal. It was a clever finish from a tight angle behind the backline, “I love finishes like that,” he said. “I didn’t have much time to think about it after Warbs (Matt Warburton) won a header for the first time in his life. But, I got behind the man and saw it drop before thinking I need to get some good contact on it here. To then see it hit the netting was great, and to be honest, I always check over for the offside flag, but I didn’t this time so I must’ve known it was onside.”

The striker went on to discuss the game itself, “It was similar to the away one we had with them,” said Billy.

Before adding, “They dominated the first half, so we knew that we had to come out and be better in the next half. We did that, and then at the end, we can look back at a professional performance and all three points.”

He ended his feature to Shaymen TV by talking about his former club Torquay – a side he reached the Vanarama National League play-off final with last season, “I really enjoyed my year at Torquay,” Waters stated. “I’m really grateful to them because I didn’t have a club due to COVID, but my ties with their manager (Gary Johnson) got me a new club. There are no hard feelings when I left, that’s just football. To be honest, I wish I played more for them.”
