FC Halifax Town are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Tom Pugh on a two-year deal following his release from National League North side Scunthorpe United.

Pugh spent time in the Leeds United academy before joining the Scunthorpe academy in February 2017, going on to sign his first professional deal with the Iron in 2019. The midfielder, who is capable of playing in both central midfield and on the right, made his professional debut as a second half substitute against Mansfield Town in the EFL Trophy in 2018. Pugh signed a new one year deal to stay at The Attis Arena in May 2021, however suffered a knee injury that saw him miss the second half of the 2021/22 season where Pugh was then released having made just under 40 appearances across four years as a senior player.

In 2019, Pugh was called up to the Wales under 21 squad and made two appearances, scoring on his debut against Albania in a 2-1 defeat. In September 2022, the midfielder joined National League North club Scarborough Athletic, however after just two appearances for the Seadogs, Pugh re-joined Scunthorpe, then in the National League. In November 2023, Pugh joined fellow National League North side Hereford on loan until the end of the season, however was recalled by Scunthorpe at the end of January having made 12 appearances.

Upon his return, Pugh went on to make a further 13 appearances for Scunthorpe at the back end of the 2023/24 season as the Iron fell to defeat on penalties in the National League North playoff semi-final against Boston United. The midfielder was then one of nine to be released at the end of the season.
