FC Halifax Town midfielder Connor Thomson believes a good spirit in the dressing room now after they Shaymen extended their unbeaten run after a 0-0 home draw with Solihull Moors at the MBi Shay Stadium.

The goalless affair means Halifax have now not lost in their last six Vanarama National League matches, their longest run without a defeat since September.

Thomson, one of several new arrivals since Jamie Fullarton’s arrival at the club, has said there’s plenty of confidence amongst the Town squad currently.

“There’s a good feeling in the dressing room at the minute,” Thomson told ShaymenTV. “For us, we just want to get the three points and get far away from the relegation zone.”

“There’s a good atmosphere here, we’re not getting beat and we’re creating chances. Things can only get better really.”

“I’ve settled in straight away. I knew one of the lads before, Connor (Oliver), and he’s helped us out and all the lads are really sound.”

“I’ve not been nervous at all and I’ve settled in well, just like all of the other lads. It’s a good group now.”

The former Blackburn midfielder was full of praise for Halifax goalkeeper and the afternoon’s Man of the Match Sam Johnson who made some fantastic point-blank saves to earn the Shaymen a clean sheet.

“It’s another clean sheet and our defence was rock solid,” Thomson continued. “Sam (Johnson) was excellent today and made a couple of excellent saves to keep us in the game and get us the result.”

“One of their players was three yards out when he took the shot and he’s tipped it over the bar. Sam helps us loads and it gives us confidence that we’ve got someone like that in goal.”
