Good afternoon, and welcome to you all. Our final home game before the festive period gives me the perfect opportunity to wish all fans, whether members of the Supporters Club or not, a very Merry Christmas.

Firstly, a reminder that today you can purchase our latest Supporters Club t-shirts under the East Stand. As I said on Tuesday, should anyone in the South Stand wish to procure one, just speak to me and I’ll sort it for you. The t-shirts are on offer at £12.

Next up is a request for ideas. At present, we advertise in the club programme, and on facebook and twitter, also on the FCHT website. We are looking for ways to improve promotion of our functions and other offers, and to date have had suggestions that we should advertise through the use of fliers at home games, and maybe use other local non-football publications to gain wider exposure. There must be other ways of getting ourselves in the public eye, so please can anyone with any inspiration let us know where we might improve matters. Cost has to be a consideration of course, but we need ideas to get us started. You know how to contact us, so over to you….

As usual I enclose a further extract from the “Halifax Town AFC Official History Handbook 1892 to 1922/3” This section is entitled “The Sandhall Lease”:

On February 26th, 1910, the Halifax Football Association entered into an agreement for the tenancy of a field at Sandhall, the signatories being Messrs Cattell, Spencer, Stocks, Bragington, EB McClelland and JB McClelland. This ground was originally secured with a view to official and representative matches taking place there. The lease was later taken over by the new Halifax Town Association Football Club.

It fascinates me to think we are reading of events that occurred more than a century ago, and we are indeed fortunate that “Valiant” chose to record these matters for posterity. Most fans will of course realise that the field referred to is located directly across the road from the Brown Cow pub at Highroad Well.

Finally, a reiteration of festive greetings to all Shaymen, and in particular to Supporters Club sponsor DJ Decorators, run by Daz Playford. It goes without saying that we are grateful for his and everyone else’s support.

See you soon,       Kit.
