This Saturday, FC Halifax Town will make the long trip down south as we take on Sutton United. The Shaymen will head into the match as the league leaders while our opponents sit 9th.

Despite only being 9th in the league table, Sutton United have only lost one game so far. A big reason for their consistency has been their experienced striker Ross Lafayette.

Lafayette has played for a total of 15 clubs so far and currently leads the line for The Uโ€™s. Heโ€™s had a great start to the season as heโ€™s netted himself 3 goals in 497 minutes of action. Thatโ€™s a goal every 166 minutes.

It took the 32-year-old until his third game of the 2018/19 campaign to get his account up and running. The goal was a winner against Salford City and came after his side had gone down to ten men. Since then, Lafayette scored the opener in a 2-2 draw with Solihull Moors and a 90th minute penalty against Aldershot Town on bank holiday Monday.

Having missed out on promotion last season, Lafayette has tasted success with Welling United back in 2012/13 when they were crowned champions of the Conference South. His fine form there earned him a moved to Football League side Luton Town.

Lafayette was unable to score in his one-year spell with Luton and dropped back down to the National League where he then went on to play for Eastleigh, Aldershot Town, Dover Athletic and Maidstone United before signing with Sutton United in 2017.

Sutton United will certainly be hoping that Ross Lafayette will be able to pick the lock on the stellar Shaymen defence. The match will take place at the Knights Community Stadium this upcoming Saturday, with the kick off scheduled for 3pm. We hope to see you there!
