Good evening, and welcome to you all. Unusually, I will start with an appeal from our friends and near neighbours Brighouse Town. I’m sure you will understand why:

On Tuesday October 4th, 11 minutes into the game, Pontefract Collieries goalkeeper Lloyd Allinson received a bad head injury when he collided with the Brighouse centre forward, resulting in him being taken to hospital in Halifax. The ambulance came onto the pitch 45 minutes after the injury occurred.

It was announced it would be free entry for the re-arranged game at the Yorkshire payments Stadium, which will be on Monday, November 14th at 7.45. There will be a collection for Lloyd, who at the time of writing hasn’t resumed work (he is self employed) and also is not fit to play.

Brighouse are hoping for a good turnout, and to help with on the day expenses like match officials, floodlights etc those attending can also buy a Golden Goal ticket and/or a Half-Time Draw ticket, which will be added to those sold at the original game. The clubhouse and well acclaimed hot food kitchen will of course be open.

It is of course only last year that we played Pontefract in two FA Cup games, and I hope a good number of Shaymen are in a position to attend and support this fixture.

Should you be a member of the HTSC, you will this week have received (by email) our October update, explaining our recent goings-on and achievements, what we will be up to in the near future, and a request for more individuals to consider becoming Committee members. Being on the Committee isn’t such an arduous task as some may consider, although it would help (though not compulsory) if you are able to give up an hour of your time prior to each home fixture. We also ask that you attend a β€œzoom” meeting on the first Monday evening of each month.

If you would like more information on this, just speak to any of the five current Committee members. We each do our bit, but could always do with a bit more assistance one way or another.

Finally, a reminder that the next HTSC quiz evening will take place at the Ring o’ Bells on Upper Kirkgate, Halifax (in between the Railway Station and Minster) on
Wednesday November 23rd, with a start time of 7pm.
