FC Halifax Town won 2-1 at home to Sunderland U21s in the final National League Cup game at the Shay tonight.
Town boss Chris Millington made six changes from the 2-0 win over Solihull at the weekend with Nathaniel Ford, Jo Cummings, Festus Arthur, Angelo Cappello, Harvey Sutcliffe & Jack Jenkins all in the starting XI.
Sunderland took the lead in the 19th minute with a goal from Trey Ogunsuyi He goes onto the end of a cross from Ben Middlemass and he was able to slot the ball home from close range with a first-time finish
Town equalised in the 57th minute through Zak Emmerson, he cut onto his right and whipped his shot past Daniel Cameron to make it 1-1.
The winner came 2 minutes into second half injury time. A freekick into the box was cleared only as far as Festus Arthur, his ball into the box was by Ryan Galvin at the far post and his pin point ball back across goal was tapped home by Jo Cummings.
It was Townβs first victory of the competition following defeats to Newcastle, Middlesbrough and a draw with Leeds United but defeated on penalties.
Town will be back in action on Saturday with a home game with Ebbsfleet United, 3pm kick-off
