FC Halifax Town players will be warming up in Stroke Association T-Shirts ahead of tomorrow’s game with Wealdstone at the Shay.

There will be collection points around the ground for donations.

Over 88,000 people survive a stroke every year in the UK, but surviving a stroke is just the start of a long and gruelling recovery journey.

Mums, dads, grandparents, young people, even children – anyone can have a stroke, and its impact is traumatic.

Brain damage, caused by a stroke, can leave survivors unable to move, see, speak, or even swallow food & drink.

The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing life-long support for all stroke survivors and their families. We provide tailored support to tens of thousands of stroke survivors each year, fund vital scientific research, and campaign to secure the best care for everyone affected by stroke.

The charity also works tirelessly on stroke prevention, which is why at today’s game we have the Calderdale Stroke Association team in their purple uniforms handing out valuable information and guidance on stroke and prevention. The players will also be wearing the purples during their warm-up in support.  The numbers of strokes are rising due to many factors including high blood pressure, which is the leading cause for strokes. Come along and have a chat with the team and see how you can reduce your risk further. They will also be collecting your kind donations so please donate generously to this wonderful cause and together, let’s help reduce your risk of stroke.

Thank you.
