Following FC Halifax Town’s narrow defeat to Stockport County, Pete Wild spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game, chances missed, injuries, and Boreham Wood away.
“I thought we were excellent tonight,” Wild said. “We rode the storm. I thought tactically we had them where we wanted them, we had lots of chances in the game and maybe we should have taken our chances earlier. Unfortunately, at the end it has been won by a wonder-strike. I don’t think they deserved to win the game I think a point-a-piece would have been a fair result and it was a great advert for National League football.”
Adam Thomas won the game in the 86th minute with an unstoppable strike into the top right corner. Despite the late loss, Wild was happy with the performance and feels there are plenty of positives to be taken.
“We’ve had plenty of chances to win the game,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “On some occasions we’ve made the wrong decision, but on another day you take those chances. There are loads of positives coming away from here we’ve built a massive platform to build from in weeks to come.”
So far this season, Town haven’t head the best of luck with injuries. But, it does seem the Shaymen have turned a corner with the majority of the squad becoming available with the next week or so.
“The boys are progressing well,” Wild said. “Hopefully we’ll have a couple more back in the squad for Saturday. Then I’m very hopeful we will be near enough 100 percent by next Saturday.”
This coming Saturday, the Shaymen travel to Boreham Wood for our third league game of the season. Wild is confident of another strong performance and feels the team are capable of taking all three points.
“It’s another tough away game,” Wild told Shaymen TV. “The fixture gods have chucked them at us early doors here. But, we will be more than ready to go and impose ourselves on Boreham Wood and hopefully it’ll be another great contest, like tonight, with us coming out on top hopefully.”
